At Janet Dunstan’s Dance Academy, we offer a diverse range of dance classes designed to inspire and challenge students of all ages and skill levels. Our expert instructors are dedicated to providing high-quality dance education in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Tap dance focuses on rhythm, timing, and coordination. Students learn to create intricate patterns of sound using their feet, mastering a variety of steps and techniques.
Jazz dance is energetic and expressive, combining sharp, strong movements with smooth, fluid transitions. This class covers classic jazz techniques, contemporary styles, and dynamic routines.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms, emphasizing grace, poise, and precision. Our ballet classes focus on proper technique, alignment, and strength, offering students a solid technical base.
Hip Hop dance is all about high energy and personal expression. Students will explore the latest urban dance styles, learning to perform powerful moves and exciting routines to popular music.
Lyrical dance combines the technical elements of ballet with the freedom and fluidity of jazz. This style focuses on storytelling and emotional expression.
Acro dance seamlessly blends classical dance techniques with acrobatic elements. Students will work on flexibility, balance, strength, and tumbling skills.
Contemporary dance is a versatile and innovative style that fuses elements of modern dance, ballet, and jazz.
Pointe work is an advanced form of ballet where dancers perform on the tips of their toes. This class focuses on developing the strength and technique required for pointe work.
Musical Theatre dance combines acting, singing, and dancing, bringing the magic of Broadway to the studio. Students will learn choreography from popular musicals.
We offer dance classes for all ages, starting from 2 years old to adult. Our programs are designed to cater to different skill levels and interests, ensuring a fun and enriching experience for everyone.
Registration can be completed online through our website or in person at the studio. We typically open registration during the summer for our September to June dance season. For specific dates and instructions, please check our website or contact us directly.
Each dance style has specific attire requirements. Generally, students should wear comfortable dancewear appropriate for the class they are attending (e.g., leotards and tights for ballet, jazz pants for jazz and tap). Please refer to our dress code guidelines on the website for detailed information.
Yes, we offer trial classes for new students. This allows them to experience our teaching style and find the right fit before committing to a full session. Please contact us to schedule a trial class.
We offer various performance opportunities throughout the year, including our annual recital, local competitions, and community events. Our Performance and Competitive Programs provide additional opportunities for students to showcase their talents and gain valuable stage experience.
Class placement is based on age, experience, and skill level. Our instructors assess each student to ensure they are placed in a class that matches their abilities and allows for growth. We regularly review progress and make recommendations for advancement as needed.
